Fraud & asset recovery is a core focus of our practice. We have extensive experience in tracing, freezing and recovering digital assets, particularly cryptocurrency. The recovery process is incredibly complex and requires an understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, traditional financial technology, telecommunications systems, and internet protocols. Coupled with the complex technological underpinnings of systems used to carry out fraud is an equally complex international legal matrix involving jurisdiction and international private law.
Our practice is focused on three keys areas of fraud:
1. Rug Pulls: You purchased cryptocurrency, such as a memecoin or an NFT, and the creators of the project ran off with your funds.
2. Pig-Butchering Scams: Investments in fake online “platforms” which can sometimes have elements of romance scams. In these cases, everything is going great until you try to get your money out. These scams often leave individuals devastated financially.
3. Recovery Scams: These are scams following a scam. In recovery scams, someone promises you recovery and then further defrauds you.
Recognizing the vulnerability of victims of such fraud, we provide a tailored approach which simplifies the litigation process. We also provide victims of fraud with numerous avenues for potential recovery that do not involve proceeding through the litigation process.
