Norwich Orders

Norwich Orders

Norwich orders, more generally known as production orders, allow a litigant to reach behind the privacy walls that prevent the public from accessing corporate records and to obtain disclosure from these companies, usually in the form of records relating to a user of these companies’ services. We obtain Norwich Orders principally in the context of fraud, where we need to gather as much information as possible relating to the wrongdoers.

In a world where so many individuals and corporations have accounts with third party service providers, whether relating to social media, banking, emailing, etc., there is a treasure trove of information on wrongdoers who abuse these services for bad-acting, whether in the form of fraud or otherwise. The disclosure obtained through Norwich orders is not only valuable in court proceedings, but also to law enforcement and private investigators, who may be able to advance a victim’s cause outside of court.

We work with our clients to figure out all of the potential third party information providers that could have information about the wrongdoer. Especially in fraud causes, we rarely have accurate identifying information for the wrongdoers. But emails, phone numbers, domain names, crypto addresses all leave a “paper” trail and a Norwich order can uncover sufficient information for identifying either a wrongdoer or assets connected to that wrongdoer.
